Surgical Hair Restoration ProgramThe Irvine Institute of Medicine and Cosmetic Surgery-OC NeoGraft© is one of the most experienced hair restoration surgical facilities performing automated FUE with NeoGraft©. The NeoGraft system is the product of ten years of research and development in Europe and it provides a minimally invasive procedure giving a natural and aesthetically appealing hairline. Automated FUE is considered the Cadillac of hair restoration surgery, and NeoGraft advances and refines hair transplantation surgery for patients. The device has been used for the last decade in Europe and Asia, and in late 2008 was cleared for use in the United States by the FDA. Over 10,000 hair transplants have been done with this device with excellent results. In 2009, OC NeoGraft were the first and most recognized dedicated FUE hair restoration facility in the western United States to use this 21st century hair surgical technology. You will appreciate the aesthetic results with automated FUE using NeoGraft. In comparison to the linear strip method, FUE does not require the surgical removal of a section of the scalp potentially resulting in a noticeable linear scar at the back of the scalp. Instead, NeoGraft uses your own natural hair follicles without using a scalpel, sutures or staples. The most desired aspects to automated FUE is the noninvasive nature of the surgery, quicker recovery times, and no linear donor scar at the donor site. Two Methods Of Harvesting Hair Follicles - Strip Vs. FUECurrently there are two methods used in performing surgical hair transplantation, i.e., STRIP and FUE. With the STRIP method, a section of scalp is excised with a scalpel. The scalp is brought together with either sutures or staples. Next, the hair follicles or grafts are inserted into tiny slits placed by the surgeon in the balding recipient area. The follicles with a single hair are placed in the front rows to define a more natural hairline. With automated FUE using NeoGraft, a minimal depth scoring punch device is used to loosen the follicle from the surrounding tissues. The small naturally occurring hair follicle units are then removed directly from the donor area. With the FUE procedure, a 0.8 or 1.0 mm punch minimal depth scoring excision is used in the skin around the upper part of the follicular unit (hair follicles). The hair follicle is then extracted directly from the scalp and manually placed into tiny slits in the balding area similar to the STRIP method. Traditional STRIP Method Before & After

FUE with NeoGraft™ Verses Traditional Strip Harvesting
Quicker Recovery, More Grafts, and No linear Scars with Automated FUEAutomated FUE technology allows more hair grafts to be harvested than manual FUE surgery. Automating the FUE procedure also involves a less invasive than the traditional linear STRIP method. Most importantly, as compared to the linear STRIP excision technique, there is no observed linear donor scar when the hair is worn short. Finally, this office based procedure and technique is greatly desired because it allows for a quicker recovery and less postoperative down time. No Surgical Cutting Of ScalpAutomated FUE with NeoGraft™ is the most recently developed hair transplant device approved by the FDA that does not involve excising a large portion of the scalp or linear incision in the scalp. Thus no sutures, staples, or scalpel are required. Postoperative bleeding is not present and almost immediate surgical recovery is realized. Patients are able to resume light physical activity the next day without restrictions. Athletes or physically active patients may resume their normal strenuous workouts in one week. Up To 2000 Grafts Per DayHair restoration surgery with automated FUE using NeoGraft removes individual hair follicles from the scalp in their naturally occurring groupings of 1-4 hairs. At OC NeoGraft we are able to typically harvest or surgically remove and implant 2000 hair follicles in one surgical setting using 0.8 mm or 1.0 mm punches. The typical length of the surgical session varies from patient-to-patient. In some cases because of various patient factors, cases will end as quickly as nine (9) hours, but in some patients a twelve(12) hour session is required.
